Family holiday 3 generations
Jul 2019
We were staying in a nearby villa which was excellent. Atri was a joy to visit for us all with the old cathedral, quaint narrow and cobbled streets and squares and magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. Recommend a visit.

Summer in Atri
Jun 2018
My father who is 90 wanted to see family in nearby Pescara. We stayed in a country villa about 2 miles from Atri. Our 30 day stay including many evenings in Atri. There were stores, restaurants, an old theater and coffee and gelato storefronts. Our family spent time going to the weekly attractions at the square where they had local foods, clothing/bakery items etc. We felt very safe in Atri and were very welcome by the locals. There was something for everyone almost every night of the week. It is a very affordable place and near to Pineto Beach and others attractions which a vehicle is needed. Also a bus station. We have favorable memories of Atri. you will enjoy your stay.

Tranquility
Mar 2019
I finally got to visit the village of my ancestors. I was left peaceful and satisfied at the beauty, the people, the churches, shops, the food, restaurants, our B&B, the views, cleanliness and of course the square. Atri, forever in my heart!

Soooooo cute !!
Mei 2016 • Pasangan
Very small and cute Italian village with amazing medieval structures still in place. We arrived during some festive days in the town center and everything was so alive and packed with people, it felt awesome.
Bear mind that the city center is pedestrian, no cars allowed, so try to plan your parking before you get there. Try the one on Via Pomerio, there's also an excellent panoramic view of Teramo province.

Charm on Abruzzo hills
Jul 2015 • Teman
Small historic town on Abruzzo hills, where past and present are combined in a perfect mix. The most important thing in Atri is the main square where the theater and church meet creating a unique and romantic place.
The Church, Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is an astonishing monument that is free to be visited. The Theatre is a jump in the past, expecially during the winter, when you can attend nice shows.
Atri is also well know for the food, for the fantastic view on the abruzzo hills, and for the nearness from the adriatic sea.
Perfect for romantic week end or for relax week during the summer.

Stop to see the Frescoes in the Cathedral
Jun 2015 • Pasangan
As you enter Atri there are very ugly blocks of flats and you wonder why a visit was suggested. Once in the Centro Storico it becomes clear. An attractive small town to do a bit of grocery shopping and have a coffee but before doing this you must see the Frescoes in the Cathedral and that shuts at noon. (Re-opens around 15.30 but check link below)

If you want to also visit the small museum for a small fee, you'll need about an hour's worth of parking.

For opening times see here. www.cattedraleatri.it/MuseoCapitolare.php.

A gem of a town
Okt 2014 • Pasangan
We visited this beautiful town on a sunny afternoon in September. We parked in the square outside the information office and were given a very helpful map. The town is relatively small and so we could walk to all the attractions, mostly churches, with ease. The town is very quaint, with small cobbled roads barely big enough for a car to fit down, although they do. All seemed to be decorated with beautiful balconies of flowers. There is a fabulous view from the Belvedere right down to the sea. The Duomo is very beautiful with simple architecture but fabulous 15th century frescoes by Andrea Delitio. There are more in another church in the town. Sadly the museum in the Duomo wasn't open when we visited but I understand it houses are some beautiful ceramics from Castelli. We had coffee in the square overlooking the Duomo and then walked to the gardens at the end of the town. There are a number of small shops in Atri some selling local specialities like Pan Ducale (nut bread) and licorice liquore. Perhaps the most beautiful thing is that this is a normal town, going about it's business - it welcomes tourists, but they fit to the town not the other way round. A few miles down the road is the sea, with the beautiful beaches of Pineto - another place well worth a visit - sandy blue flag beaches.

An ancient city
Jul 2014 • Keluarga
It is a very beautiful city in the hills.... We had a lovely lunch and a nice cream in the square and the most amazing sweet shop .... Well worth a visit. The cathedral had the most amazing frescos and further down the hill were beautiful sculptures overlooking the hills.... Great views of the mountains.... 30 minutes by car from Silvi......
