Great quiet spot

Really interesting to see some older architecture. Good history inside, and amazing view at the top.

Alternative to Mirador San Cristobal
Nov 2019 • Sendiri
A very pleasant palace with gardens and exhibition inside, not too crowded and located in the middle of a maze of narrow street, great to stroll around. Last but not least, a tower with a viewpoint is absolutely superb! Stunning views and not crowded at all, definitely pick this one over e.g. Mirador San Cristobal

Garden Home plus bonus Astronomy
Jun 2019
This home belonging to the mother of the last sultan is being renovated, but is a lovely representative of a garden home in that era. Without the grandeur of the Alhambra, the architecture still lends insight into that same time period. If you like astronomy, there are instruments showing the progression of equipment over the centuries, which makes me give the place 4 stars instead of 3.

Dar al-Horra palace
Mei 2019 • Sendiri
It was hard for me to find the Dar al-Horra palace - there are sparse indications of where it is, and I got lost in narrow steep streets. At the end I managed to find it, and it was really worthwhile.

You can buy a single ticket and visit Horno De Oro, Dar al Horra and Bañuelo. Free entrance on Sundays (as of May 2019).

After the ticket booth, you enter the garden, where they still grow officinal plants - the smell of honey all around is so good! They told me the small flower responsible for this good smell is called "honey rosemary" - which I never heard about, but it has such a pleasant smell!

The palace itself is also very interesting, with the usual patio and ornate rooms. Well worth a visit!

Okay for a longer visit
Apr 2019
If you're in Granada for more than a few days, this is worth a visit. A small museum, beautifully simple and with lovely views of the Albaicin, with exhibit info about traditional Moorish building techniques of the period. Combine it with a lunchtime visit to the charming Plaza San Miguel de Bajo and the Mirador de Lona, nearby.

It's not easy to find but local people will kindly direct you. Interesting architecture and views make it worth a visit especially on Sundays when entry is free.

Calm, attractive and interesting palace

One of Granada's many buildings preserved from the Nasrid era, and visitable on the Andalusian Mounuments ticket, which gives you four sites for only 5 Euros. This one is difficult to find. Described as being attached to the Convent of St Isobel la Real, the entrance is in fact some minutes' walk away, well behind that convent and not very well signposted. However, it's worth the search. It was the residence of Aixa, mother of Boabdil, the last Muslim ruler of Granada. Originally it had more rooms, but some were incorporated into the post-reconquista convent. Typically of these buildings, it is constructed around a central courtyard. Gardens are everywhere, as well as plenty of fine ceilings and arches. There are several mini-exhibitions showing the knowledge and technology nurtured in the Al-Andalus era, especially in astrology, medicine, chronology etc, but little information on those who lived here.

Nice place with scenic view of Granada
Nov 2018
It is the house where the mother of Boabdil (last moorish ruler of Granada) used to live.We bought ticket for several attractions in Granada online and this was included in the ticket. It's a bit of a good walk up the hill (good excercise) from Elvira street and when you reach near it, there are some good views of the city of Granada from there. The house itself has reception where they check or issue you a ticket and then you wander about the place/ take pictures.

Most interesting display of medieval astronomical instruments and documentation.

It is not easy to find this place though well worth persevering, with the aid of a smart phone. Being close to the St Nicholas church viewing point, makes for an interesting climb through small alleyways. Apart from being an unusual building with a significant historical past (the home of Aixa, mother of Boabdil), it also houses fascinating exhibitions of astronomical instruments, documentation, horticultural history and techniques. Also some interesting Moorish plasterwork.

Simple, Elegant Arabic House

Visited as part of the combined ticket but this was difficult to find. I've attached a picture of the small plaza just next to the Monastery of Isabella the Queen. Follow the narrow lane in the plaza picture round the back of the buildings with the city wall on your left. Finally you get to a pretty herb garden and simple interior. Have a drink/meal in the plaza as a reward for finding it. I warn you that it's a long climb up from the town centre on a hot day!
