Not there anymore

It was very nice but have been closed down. It is a shame. Surely the Town Hall wasn't supporting it as Mr. Gil an old Mayor did.

The bonsai museum is now permanently closed.

The Bonsai Museum is now permanently closed. I understand the Marbella council want to use the building for a library. The park is still open but when we visited other than the terrapins in the lake there was little of interest. The park looked a little run down, with rough sleepers, and a lot of dog dirt. It is only a short walk from Orange Square but not really worth the trouble in my opinion.

Small trees in a small park

Marbella have got new bicyckling routes . One of them passes through Parque Arroyo close to the old town. This is a nice detour out of the traffic. The museum is worth a stop and have som very old trees. If you like turtles , small dams and ducks the museum and the area beneath it is very beautiful and loved by the children.

For those interested in Bonsai this is a must visit
Sep 2018 • Pasangan
A fine display of many species of Bonsai from across the world. I lost count of how many Bonsai on display at well over 100. The Bonsai ranged from a few years old up to 400 years old. The Art of Bonsai is a staggering example of a human's dedication through a succession of generations of Bonsai artisans caring and nurturing a living and breathing entity. Well worth the effort to seek out this place and spend an hour or two in awe of the delicate balance in nature created by those who appreciate the art of Bonsai.

I was a bit disappointed at the entrance because they only accepted cash but luckily we had some so we got in. All different kind of little trees up to 500 year old - very nice.

Peaceful and interesting

We went with our teens and enjoyed seeing the bonsai and turtles. It's a small museum but peaceful. Was surprised my teens enjoyed it as much as they did. They only charged children's price for them so it cost 12 euro in total- good value

Surprisingly Excellent
Mei 2018
My husband had minimal interest in visiting this museum, but on a day with cloudy weather, I finally convinced him. I'm so glad we went! The bonsai on display are awe inspiring - so many ancient trees that just take your breath away! And in the middle of the main bonsai area, there is a water garden where several turtles live - we spent so much time just watching them! So relaxing!
We ended up being there later than expected and had to leave part way through our visit, but the employee was very nice and let us come back in after his siesta.

Trees and Turtles
Mei 2018 • Pasangan
Very nice collection of Bonsai trees. Set within a very nice park this museum has a wide assortment of Bonsai trees ranging from 30 - 500 years. Fig trees, ginkgo, olive, maples and other ficus tree varieties. Many water features with sunbathing turtles. If you do not see the turtles inside just stroll around to the exterior ponds, there are hundreds of turtles paddling around and sunbathing.

YOU NEED TO BE A BONSAI ADDICT

4 euros admission is a bit steep for a few rows of bonsai trees. Unless you are very keen on these exhibits best avoid. No facilities either.

Short but interesting visit
Feb 2018 • Keluarga
The Museo del Bonsai features a collection of many different kinds of bonsai trees, some dating back up to 500 years. The trees are very beautiful but the museum’s collection is quite small, making visits rather short. Some signs with explanations or historical background would be a useful addition to the Museo del Bonsai.
