Repeatedly, we‘ve come to UCI to find incredibly long queues for both tickets and snacks. What a pity - theater is nice, but speed of service way below one would expect for the price.

We discovered that the nearest IMAX to where we live in NRW is one screen in the UCI Kinowelt Bochum, some 70 km north of where we live. Nevertheless we decided to buy tickets on line to see one of the latest blockbuster action films from the USA. This cinema complex is integrated into the large shopping mall at the Ruhrpark just outside Bochum. There was plenty of free parking. We found the cinema complex easily after a pleasant stroll through the shopping mall. Picking up our tickets was easy and we were pleased to see a range of places to grab something to snack and drink on the first floor of the main building. The IMAX theatre, one of 14 screens, is not huge but the experience - the sound and picture quality is fantastic - notably in 3D. The film was a long one but, fortunately, the seats were really comfortable and I didn't have any problems at all. My only slight gripe was that I found that it got quite hot and stuff there but, of course, we were visiting in the height of an unusually hot German summer.
