Always something new. Sophisticated innovative works. Light shows and photography, more than normal paintings, in my experience.

Worth the visit even with kids. We loved the op de Beeck exhibit...wandering through the rooms and small walkways...mysterious and exciting for the kids. Loved it.

Along the Porsche Straße in Wolfsburg, right on the side of the City Hall (Rathaus) we can find this intresting and charming museum, always bringing new ideas of contemporary art and also keep a really nice fixed repertory!

When this museum was planned and designed, the world was still a different place and the Wall that separated East and West Germany and the world was still up. It might be a coincidence that the events around the German reunification took place at the same time, but as with Germany this museum was an important factor in Wolfsburg bacoming a modern city.
The building itself looks almost fragile, with lots of glass and steel showing on the outside. On the inside you have a very large exhibition area that offers multiple different setups in what is basically one very large room with some side rooms on a number of different levels.
The exhibitions change between two and three times a year and feature a variety of contemporary artists. This is about the most precise description of the museum's theme since otherwise it seems as if everything goes. It should be mentioned that this museum is supported and also supports a not-for-profit art association that is widely (in Europe and even globally) regarded to be not only of high quality but influential in its special field.
Additionally worth mentioning are the gift shop (you do not have to exit through it, though) offering many design objects hard to find in other places, and also the restaurant on the top floor, which offers a modern menu in a very casual and modern setting.
So check the exhibitions to find out if there is anything particular you like or just come here to see the building itself, because that is also worth it!

I have visited the exhibition "RealSurreal
Meisterwerke der Avantgarde-Fotografie. Das Neue Sehen 1920-1950. Sammlung Siegert" together with colleagues.
The exhibition was alright. I would only recommend to visit the museum in case of exhibitions that you are extremely interested in (e.g. Steve McCurry / Oskar Kokoschka which I both missed).
The entry fee is 8 Euros which I find too high for the quite small exhibitions in comparison to the Louvre (where you only pay 12 Euros).
The staff is very friendly and the museum is not too frequently visited in the late afternoon where you can enjoy everything in a calm atmosphere.

Just visited the Slapstick! exhibition on Sunday. We were lucky to visit on a free day. This exhibition was well displayed and information was provided in an English brochure. Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, and Keaton were featured with other artists to add their touch. My 12 year old son was with me and enjoyed it as much as I did. Well worth the visit.
