It was a very nice and complete surprise this visit. a lot of fun, good food, nice architecture, music, fun for kids and of course great car exhibitions. And also all the personnel that worked there were very nice and kind.

There was a lot I loved about here - the kids area were great, the architecture and grounds are amazing and helpful staff are everywhere. However, I left with a bad taste in my mouth because the VW commerical cars pavilion seemed to be missing much of what was described to be there and the parking cost far more than stated - we had to pay 10 euros instead of the 3 promised on the website or the 6 on signs at the park. It left a bad taste in my mouth which is a shame.

Autostadt (the Volkswagen theme park and museum) is a really interesting place to visit. For me, the highlight was the museum in building 2. Not only does this show a variety of Volkswagen cars and its brands, but also the history of cars. It was a very interesting and educational experience and all the information was written in German and English. Outside of building 2 there are more cars that one can look at in other buildings, which are dedicated to the various VW brands e.g. Porsche, SEAT, Audi, SKODA etc.
There is a bridge near Wolfsburg central station that provides easy access (about 7 mins on foot) to Autostadt. It would have been helpful if the buildings had been better signposted. Upon arrival, everyone is given a map of Autostadt, but it would have been helpful if there had been signs in front of the actual buildings to aid navigation. It is also important to note that not all of the activities are included in the €18 ticket, as some activities need to be bought additionally.
Overall this was a very good experience I can recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Germany.

I've visited the Autostadt twice. Both times, I did not manage to do the things I intended. On this visit, I started early, soon after they opened. I did not leave the building where you check in. I found the display of all the new VW electric products. The brand representative was most courteous. She opened the doors of the vehicles I was interested in. She said I could test drive them at the Driving Experiences. These were the magic words I needed to hear.
I found the entrance to the Driving Experiences, which is along the path from the parking lot beside Das Brot. I went inside and the hosts were very helpful. They asked what I wanted to do. The Driving Experiences has many options, all require an advance reservation (most are free). When I said I wanted to test an electric car, Maria chimed in from her office. She suggested I drive the e-Tron. The first available appointment was at 1400 (2 pm). I had time to get a COVID test available at the end of the parking lot with a German address. A COVID test and a N-95 or kN-95 mask are required. After the test, I walked back and had lunch at Das Brot. The COVID results came through email while I was eating. The hosts at Driving Experience needed to see the email to confirm my appointment.
I had a couple of hours before my drive. I spent a few hours by driving around the Nurburing in a race simulator, and I went to the gift shop. Both are inside the park. The gift shop isn't all VW. They have products from all over Germany. I was able to buy some Porsche themed items from my friends. I also was able to buy gifts to go into the garden and gin from Berlin.
I walked back to my car to put away the gifts and immediately back to the Driving Experience. This is where I met Maria for the first time. She allowed me to drive the e-Tron and wanted me to experience the very quick acceleration. She also allowed me to see the iD-3 and the Cupra Born. I fell in love with the Cupra Born and the Cupra brand.
After the test drive and seeing the other electric cars, I was out of time. The Autostadt is an immersive experience. I planned to only go to the Porsche gift shop and ZeitHaus multi-brand car museum. Each time I visited, the Autostadt had new experiences I did not expect. I highly suggest people visit the website before you go to see what is being displayed. The venues change throughout the year. You should understand this theme park really is intended to showcase the love of automobiles and the VW group brands. VW has done a nice job of displaying items from all over Germany. If you love cars, this is worth a stop and the price of admission.

Even without being a car fan, Autostadt in Wolfsburg has a lot to offer. I am often there on the weekends with my siblings and the kids. there is a lot for kids to do, especially on nasty rainy days. In the inter the ice track is amazing. For children to have fun and for parents to enjoy a good chant and a glass of glint wine. But there is also a playground inside, a VW merchandise show, a museum, coffee shop, nice park etc.

I've visited a lot of car museums in Europe and this was the most dissapointing experience in all of them. The museum is great - it's just small. Autostadt is a big facillity and I expected more. When building two is finished, the rest is a park with sales display of all the Volkswagen products. I really hoped it would be more. For a price of €18 - well it was not actually value for money. If you are looking for a new car and wants to see all the models in one place, maybe - as the personell is really plesent and professional.

I was actually shocked at the way we were treated. Buying a car and picking it up here was supposed to be a truly happy occasion. It was anything but.
Took a nice train ride from Berlin with hubby and small, well behaved dog in a bag on a Friday at noon with the expectation of exploring the factory a bit, grabbing a bite to eat, shopping a little then driving our new car home.
Arrived by train with a short walk to the Autostadt passing over a nice bridge over water with those moving walkways. With paperwork in hand and masks on both nose and mouth we arrived at a large lobby where there were masked security "welcome staff". Either the woman that assisted us was having a bad day or is simply in the wrong job as a greeter. My husband, a Berlin local, politely asked where we should go to pick up our car. The woman said to him that he could go in but "they" (me and the dog who's head popped out of the bag) were not welcome inside. He asked why and she said due to covid only one of us could go in and pick up the car. He explained that nothing was mentioned in the paperwork and we needed to use a restroom so he proceeded to walk past her to the next line. She said to him that he could leave "it" with her if we wanted. She was referring to our dog.
We walked to the next station where the woman who was at least sympathetic said that if I closed the dog in, perhaps I could make it through the outer area but they truly would allow only on in to sign the paperwork and collect the car. She mentioned that there were restaurants etc. nearby. I opted to go back over the bridge and seek a restroom and water for the dog. In the shopping outside mall, having the dog was not an issue and there was a place for him to take a drink.
My husband sent word that he had a gift card to eat at the restaurants there. I went back over the bridge in an attempt to get take out from the restaurant as the dog was not welcome. The manager of the restaurant stated that normally the dog and I could sit outside but she did not recommend it at the moment as it started to rain and was windy. No take out. Not allowed inside, kindly go sit in the rain and wait please. This was at 3:30PM and she stated that if we were going to eat while the dog was tied outside in the rain we would have to order soon as the place closed at 5PM.
I went back outside and found a nice Weeping Willow tree which provided some shelter from the rain and wind. I was sitting next to a nice lady and her tiny cute puppy who was also exiled from the building.
None of this was mentioned on the paperwork sent to us as we would simply have stayed home.
When the car was finally available after sitting in the rain for over an hour, I had to walk back over the bridge to get to a place where we could be picked up.
I wrapped the dog in a warm blanket and got in the car.
I was shocked to see that the dashboard had fingerprints and a white substance on it. (see picture) I've never received a new car that was not pristine and could pass a white glove test until today. Not sure if they were short staffed or just stopped caring at some point but honestly, not an experience I would pursue again.

Being a car-head, the Autostadt was akin to visiting disneyland. The Autostadt has individual areas / museums for each of the VW brands & a 4D presentation for the Lamborghini supercar. Do not miss out on the Bugatti Zone.
A day can be easily spent at the Autostadt, if not more!

I plan to visit Autostadt with my husband and 2 kids (11 and 9 years) on a weekday at the beginning of july. There is a 2 hour adventure tour option at 11.30 - what does this include?
Thank you!

Sorry, but I don't know anything about it and can't find much of anything on their website. What they do show for 11:30 doesn't sound like enough to last 2 hours. I would think you should e-mail them directly to see what they say.
bonjour,
sur quel site se rendre pour visiter l'usine afin de reseerver ?
est ce passible le 18avril ?

Hi there, just looking at your review - we’re trying to work out whether the $200 AUD train ride from Berlin to visit the Autostadt + entry fee will be worth it. We’re especially interested in the factory tour. Approximately how long was it; was it interesting with lots of info? Are there long queues to go bobsledding? Thanks for any advice you can offer - it’s a lot of money all up and the reviews seem very mixed. Karen

We only did the tower ride, you go up on one of the car collector things in a glass box. I personally think if you are really into cars it’s worth it. I would however recommend if you do like an old car, the nearby Volkswagen museum. Much more of a variety of cars.
If you like Volkswagen Audi group it’s an adult theme park.
I can’t say much more than that I’m sorry to say. The whole place is just nuts! I really enjoyed myself being. VW nut!!! The tower is worth every penny.
Food and drink is expensive but take your own and you will be good to go.
I think the question I would ask is ‘how much do you love cars?’
I hope that has helped a little. Sorry I can’t tell you more x

when you stay in Berlin, you better stay in Berlin. there is so much to see. (and also to avoid traffic jambs. I did wait for booking via booking. com, and could have 45%reduction and did pay 285€for a doubleroom in Ritz Charlton. I did book the day before arrival.
Can I buy a ticket on the day for the factory tour?

The factory tour is free and you can only get tickets on the day from the main reception area....check the website for tour times and be aware places are limited so aren't guaranteed.

I'm afraid you have to go to your nearest Volkswagen dealership for that. To my knowledge a manufacturing plant do not conduct any direct sales. Their dealerships are tasked to do that.

Definitely an ICE train from Berlin. The Autostadt is just across a footbridge from Wolfsburg Hbf.
