Frankfurt is a very green City, this park gives you ample space to walk or just lie in the grass and relax. Very pleasant.

Great park

Nice open space, beautiful playground, relaxing setting. Spent the morning here to help adjust to jet lag. The fresh air was helpful and the playground got the kids moving.

Changed for the better
Jun 2018 • Teman
This park has matured massively since I was last here 25 years ago. The trees produce much more shade now and the park is really beautiful, nicely zoned and linked together via winding footpaths. Watch out for the cyclists who tear past a considerable speed and close by.

Nice park, great playgrounds, nice cafe
Apr 2018 • Keluarga
We took our children age 4 to 8 and everyone had a good time. One playground for little kids, one playground with climbing stuff for the older ones. Bring a ball, the park has lots of open space for playing ball. Also the cafe has drinks, snacks and packaged ice cream.

nice park with free access across the street from the Palmengarten
Jul 2017 • Bisnis
If you're a tourist in Frankfurt, you're likely to want to pay to get into the Palmengarten. However, if you're a business traveller and just want a place to walk or to run, check out the Gruneburgpark, which is right across Siesmayerstraße from the Palmengarten.

The largest park in the city...
Apr 2017 • Keluarga
The Grüneburgpark is a park in the Westend of Frankfurt. The name derives from the "Green castle", which stood on this site in the 14th century.
In 1789 the banker Peter Heinrich von Bethmann Metzler (these Banks still exist) acquired the property and designed the park. The great thinkers of those times met here, among them Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Bettina von Arnim.

The park was bought in 1837 by the Rothschild family, who had a palais constructed in the manner of a French Loire castle. The Rothschild family had a huge landscaped park developed at this location. Heinrich Siesmaer finished the English-styled park in 1877.

In 1935, after the Nazi rise to power, Albert von Goldschmidt-Rothschild, who committed suicide in emigration five years later, had to "transfer to the municipality" (quote from a letter to mayor Krebs) what had been the home of his family. The "New Palais" was destroyed in an air raid in 1944.

The park has been rebuilt after the war and made into a public park open day and night for the public. During the summer month it is a crowded sunday afternoon place to be.
