IMHO Chamonix is an internatiol holiday spot. The museum however did only show everything in French. I am not even asking for Italian or German but they do not even have English explanations.

My preconceptions unfortunately always come true 😖

Apart from that it would be a nice exhibition of stones without any further scientific explanations. Seen that much better.

Rocks and crystals of alps
The museum displays rocks crystals got from this region of the alps range which are so unique in shape,size,colour. If time permits can have a look around.

An interesting display of crystals at Montenvers
As one of the attractions at Montenvers, it is well worth visiting the Crystal Museum to see the wide variety of crystals and rocks that abound in and around the Chamonix valley.

This museum is good for learning a little about the mountain Crystals. It isn't a large museum but it shows a number of crystal examples and how they are found.

Huge variety of crystals, large and small, many discovered on nearby rock climbs.

Worth a visit. Very well set out and good value. A nice change from skiing/boarding and the hubbub of the town.

A lovely place with a wonerful collection of crystals: the way those rare creatures are displayed is quite nice and beautiful (simplicity making the beauty), the explanations are quite nice...I did love the variety of sizes of the shown pieces, from the very small to the very big. I also appreciated the big explanatory posters on the different walls about the science and scientific facts and roots of the Mineralogy..I will surely revisit the place if I come back as It really took my heart and imagination somewhere else..how just nature can create such a high order of molecules combinations with an awesome beauty !

Worth a visit

This was a stop gap in our wait for return train to paris on teh last day. But we are glad that we did it. If you are visiting this and any other museum in Chamonx be sure to get a slip from teh hotel claiming your stay and you will receive a discount price. We could not get this as we were unaware and the hotel staff did not inform us of this facility.
The display of the crystals were amazing, but more than that what we enjoyed were the video clips of the activities in chamonix specially rock climbing and and rope lining, We saw some eccentric rope lining videos that left us amazed. It took about 1-2 hrs of a visit and is just s quick walk from teh Chamoinx center

I love crystals!

We actually went out of our way to go to this museum and I was so happy we did. Though it was warm inside and ultimately did t stay for more than an hour, I absolutely loved the crystals on site! So many interestingly facts and where they came from.

Rich and interesting
The crystal museum is quite interesting as,beyond the regular explanation you could find in similar museums, you see crystals found in the Mont Blanc area.
There is also a stand where you can touch them (good for kids).
Nice idea if you want I spend an hour or two.

A great museum for an “off”’day of activities or a rainy day. A nice presentation of the history of alpine activity and then a very nice collection of crystals. Expect to spend 1-2 hours.
