While I'm not a huge Picasso fan, this is still a very interesting museum with a broad variety of his art. Not a must-do stop if you have limited time in Paris, but if you have a little time, and especially if you have the Paris museum pass, this is definitely worthwhile.

In the second arrondissement, housed in an old hotel is this wonderful spot… certainly worth a visit as it’s a quieter spot in the Marais with much less tourist traffic… Basically a collection of his own pieces that became part of his estate in 1973, a highlight of my most recent trip. Paintings, sculpture, poetry and drawings, this had been on my list since my last time here…One of my favorites was on the third floor as it was a room of portraits…c’est incroyable!

The museum's collection is indeed extremely varied, with over 5,000 works and more than two hundred thousand archival items. It offers a complete panorama of Picasso's work, covering his paintings, sculptures, engravings and drawings. All this is housed in the elegant 17th-century hôtel particulier Aubert de Fontenay, better known as the Hôtel Salé, which was listed as a historic monument in 1968.

I've had this museum bookmarked since my last visit to Paris. It is located in 3rd arr. in a lovely area, right across from one of my favorite casual lunch spots - Glou. The museum hosts an excellent collection spanning the vast legacy of Picasso, including not only his more well-known works but also "Picasso's Picasso", i.e., the multitude of works that for the longest time were not presented to the public. You can also get a glimpse of his personal "museum", a collection of artifacts that he used to draw inspiration from. In addition to paintings and sculptures, there is also a very curious collection of pottery. Finally, do not ignore the top, 3rd, floor - there's probably some of the most impressive of his artwork there, including Aubade

It is beautiful (both place and permanent collection) and you can understand how the personal, cultural, politic and social life of Picasso influenced his art. However, I was disappointed with the audio-guide - it didn't work on many paintings. It was 5€ extra (besides the not-so-friendly cost of the museum itself), and at the end of the visit I complained to the manager that it didn't work very well and they didn't care much... not a possibility of refund was mentioned. They said they didn't know about this. Well, if so, being the one that actually found a fault in their functioning, I would like to feel more considerate about it.

Much more extensive exhibition than the one i remembered 5-6 years ago. 4 floors of almost 80-90% Picasso including his less famous non-cubist works. Interesting

The museum has quite a lot of Picasso art so if you like his art go there. You can get in for free on the 1st Sunday of the month or with Paris Pass.

First time visiting and was a bit disappointed, was looking forward to see ALOT of Picasso's work, since the museum is name after him. Only to find out there was just one floor (basement area) which had his artwork, the rest of the museum had another artist exhibition. Not happy, if you are a Picasso fan, this is not the place to go.

Dear visitor,
You may have visited our museum between September and March. At the time, we had an exhibiton on the -1 level showcasing Picasso's art.
However, we currently have three entire floors dedicated to Picasso's art since March 12th, along with temporary exhibitions on the ground floor.

Housed in the beautiful ancient Hotel Sale this museum benefited from a very large donation of Picasso works after his death.
It displays the multi faceted talents of the artist through his long career as well as some of his own personal collection of art which includes paintings from Matisse and Cezanne.
The current temporary exhibition of works collected by the Rosenberg family is rather disappointing.

Lovely building housing picasso. Really enjoyed seeing lesser known works and mediums. Curation was hard to follow though. Maybe needed the audio guide. Some things i wanted to see were hard to find because there are no good maps of the collection. Very fun visit.

Good collection of Picasso pieces. However there was no audio guide. Line to enter was small. Ticket prices are relatively expensive.

I’m sorry I really don’t remember. And I suspect it’s extra. There are very few museums in Paris where it is automatically included. But I would check their website just to clarify that. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

We leave for Europe 8/14 and arrive in Paris 8/26. We want to make reservations at museums that have time slots. Can we purchase museum passes now and reference to museum pass number to make reservations now then present our museum pass after we pick it up in Paris? Or do we have to wait until we physically have the passes in Paris to make reservations?

You do not need to book an additinal time slot with your Paris Museum pass. Access is queued and you can access the Museum's control directly without additional reservation. Looking forward to welcoming you to the Musée national Picasso-Paris :)

Bonjour Marcel,
L'entrée du Musée est gratuite pour les jeunes de moins de 18 ans (et pour les jeunes de moins de 26 ans résidents ou ressortissants de l'UE). Pour ces visiteurs, il n'y a pas de billet ni de réservation : ils peuvent accéder directement aux espaces d'exposition :)

I just finished my visit on April 10 and the entire museum was open. Two floors are dedicated to Calder/Picasso but the other floors contain just Picasso.
