The ramparts are part of the wall that surrounds the old town of Saint-Malo. It is not a continuous loop but the longest section of the ramparts faces the English Channel side. Nice views of the town and the bay. It is free.

When visiting Saint Malo, the ramparts are the best part as you risk rain to brave the wind and look outwards, or gaze in wonder at the uniform wall of buildings inside.
St Malo is filled with tacky tourist shops, food sellers, restaurants and a bewildering number of accommodation houses that jam the narrow streets.
My suggestion - stick to the ramparts.

The old town of St.Malo is located on the harbour front, and is enclosed by a wall on which you can walk the ramparts around whole old town.
The views from the ramparts are lovely, and so is the old town itself, with plenty of resturants, cafes & crepe/icecream shops to choose from.
Parking is relatively easy, with lots of locations around the harbour front & docks. But, the closer you are to the old town the harder it becomes (obviously really).
Spent a few afternoons in the old town, and would recommend visiting.

Everything about St Malo is five star! From the walk on the ramparts with views out across sandy beaches and a sparkling ocean to the little side streets where you are spoilt for choice of cafes, restaurants and bars!

St Malo is a key port in Brittany and an interesting place to visit.
It suffered substantial damage during WW2 but was sucessfully rebuilt.
It has a good range of shops and restaurants.
It is worth a visit whatever the weather- which make walking the ramparts a memorable experience

We traveled the full length of the ramparts, which should be about 2 kilometers. It is very worthwhile, because the views are beautiful ...

St Malo old town is surrounded by its old walls which you can walk in an almost complete circuit with both sea views and views of the old town. There are information boards as you go to give a bit of history. Quite a few steep steps.

We stayed in the Intramuros and it was very easy to go to the many restaurants and also shopping was also good. The ramparts are amazing and the views were breathtaking. The only thing that made me sad was there were many people selling puppies near the park and at the entrance of the Carrefour Supermarket. I hope the authorities should forbid this kind of business.

Un peu compliqué surtout le wwek-end. Le conseil, garez votre voiture sur le grand parking près de l'église de Rocabey, prenez devant la Poste puis longez l'école de police, vous arrivez sur le sillon et vous en prenez plein les yeux...la mer est là !!!
