We love locally and have always enjoyed a drink in Wilkins and Pye. Before Christmas we were there with family, who ordered food. They were then told that food was no longer being served but if they wanted to nip to the chippy next door and eat in the pin they would be more than welcome to. Once seated with food, a younger gentleman behind the bar, the gentleman whom I'm fact had initially said it was okay to eat, told us we had to leave. His attitude was disgusting and rude and we were extremely confused as to why we had been told we could eat and then asked to leave. We were then aggressively removed by punters!? We told a manager this at the Golden Ball (co-owners) who politely offered us a drink and assured us she would deal with it. She went to Wilkins and Pye but returned without any explanation. Begrudgingly I went to Wilkins and Pye last night for a drink and once again witnessed punters removing a gentleman who had accidentally spilt a drink. Not only was he removed, he was punched! This gentleman had autism and was clearly distraught. The act was caught on CCTV and hopefully the gentleman reports it as he said he would. Its a shame that a lovely little bar is no longer a place to go for a quiet drink, for fear of being removed by punters, punched, or spoken to aggressively by teenage boys behind the bar.
