Lovely place for a walk

We enjoyed a stroll in the sunshine in this popular park which has a fascinating history which can be traced back to the medieval period. There are gardens, walks, a lake and other attractions, including mini golf, pitch and putt and what looked like an excellent children's activity area called Mundys Play Centre.

Beautiful park

Gorgeous park, with lots of areas to explore and things to do (boat rentals, playgrounds, and there happened to be a fair/carnival when I visited over Easter weekend). Lots of children and dogs. Beautiful scenery. You do have to pay for parking.

Holiday time and the Park was very busy, it is a great area for children to play in and it had the added attraction of a Fun Fair, very impressed by the staff wandering around picking up any rubbish that had been dropped.

Lovely traditional park

A lovely traditional park with a lake, lovely flowers and very smooth wheelchair friendly paths. Plenty of pay and display parking, great for wheelchair users, Could not see any disabled spaces but the car park was so large it wasn't necessary. Plenty of open space for kids to run around, a nice play area, somewhere to buy drinks an ices (The Orangery) and accessible and other toilets near the orangery, in the craft village. We went on a Sunday so none of the shops were open apart from the paint a pot one, but they are all accessible. Park also includes a miniature railway hut where one can pay a small fee to see some good layouts. It's very nice to see lots of families out enjoying some fresh air at the weekend. A nice FREE place, which is always to helpful for families, shame the parking is not also free.

Lovely place to go out and spend some quality time with your family and friends, best place to have a picnic during summer season. Occasionally there are events happening in the area but few times a year. Also there is children's play ground, café, flower garden, golf area, car park and animals roaming around, e.g. ducks, squirrels. However, make sure to keep your dog on a leash.

Walked there as not sure there would be parking (Party in the Park on that day). Had a wander around and seems to have been improved since I last went, e.g., more seating outside the cafe.

Really great park and gardens etc for a great day out with the family!!
Wonderful park and so much to do for the kids!!!!!
There was a great park and a paddling pool and then crazy golf and a bouncy castle etc so a fantastic day out for all the family!!
Would definitely recommend a visit here!!!!!

A great day out with lots for kids to do!

I usually shoot through Markeaton Park on my bike but decided to go on foot with a friend and her two little ones to explore and take our time. We paid for the car park using the app and to say what there is at Markeaton Park the charges are very fair. We walked towards the play area which leads you past the orangery cafe, the bridge where you can see the ducks and geese, then towards the huge play area. With a large field area, younger children's park, larger children's park and climbing frame, two huge slides with rock climbing to get to the top or steps, and then there's the boating lake, paddling pool, bouncy castle, and separate there is the ropes at height area which I assume you pay for separately. Honestly there's so much room and space for your little ones, or bigger ones to play. We had lunch from the little cafe place near the boating lake, we chose pizza and the kids had chips. I can't have dairy but the lady was happy to use vegan cheese on our pizza which was lovely! The pizza was healthy and not greasy. The kids then had ice creams of course and there was a vegan magnum option - again, brilliant choice for those of us who can't eat certain things. The toilets were really well maintained and it felt safe to be in there using them. A really good morning out with friends. You could easily make a day of it and have a picnic on the grassed areas or benches too. There are so many things for the kids to do and they can't wait to come back. Highly recommended. I only took photos of the ducklings... But lots to see here too.

There was a lot going on with the travelling fair reopening and the weather being kind. But you can entertain the kids for a few hours in the impressive play area plus open grass areas for the price of 4 hours parking (£4) hopefully not too much more "stuff as the open areas will disappear.
