St Columb’s Cathedral is in Derry, Northern Ireland. It is a very majestic cathedral that has served a city torn apart by politics. The cathedral is very close to the walled fortification of Derry and you will pass it if you are walking around the wall.
Well worth a visit.

This cathedral has a strong history in Derry. Since 1628 this community's church home has seen it all on the cityside.

This is one of my favourite places in the city.
Its an old building but it has a unique museum that has so many interesting artefacts of the siege and other parts of the city's history. Definitely encourage tourists and visitors to visit.

The kind gentleman in the museum was helpful and informative as he walked us through the cathedral and pointed out historical aspects of this wonderful place of worship. It is not spectacular like many other cathedrals we visited, but worthwhile in its own right.

My visit was highlighted by the staff at the cathedral the day I visited. These staff (who are volunteers and parishioners) gave me a tour of the cathedral and chapter house, and one even took time to show me the United States flag that had been donated by US Sailors and Marines during their stay in Londonderry/Derry during World War II. The churchyard is also beautiful, and my wife spent hours taking pictures of its natural beauty.

We happened into this Church as they were viewing the Queens documents from their archives. The showed them to us. We were amazed and thrilled. The docents were wonderful.

We arrived in Derry on Sunday and went sight seeing on Monday morning. The church was supposed to be open but was firmly locked to all comers. The office was also closed although supposed to be open and their was no response on the given phone number.

This cathedral looks magnificent but it is only open for visits on a few days, so we could not visit. This is a shame. Check opening hours before travelling

The history in this part of Derry is immense and is all there for you to review in the cathedral and the adjacent St Columba's centre - this is a must see and the site of one of the first Catholic churches in Ireland - St Columba then went to Isla where he set up his monastery to then educate Scotland and England in the Catholic religion

Absolutely stunning Cathedral, a must see whilst in Derry. Very well kept both inside and outside. Visit is about twenty minutes but very well worth calling in.
