This is a really nice pub, when you go into you can breath a nice atmosphere.
Unfortunately they serve just Samuel Smith beers and ciders, they are not the best choice you can find in a pub.

no plates to eat..I've eaten on the table...when I asked "do you think is it normal to not have one plate to eat the starters?the response was, sorry we haven't...".there was few people in the pub...I was completely astonished...it's not acceptable to not have a plate to eat!!!!
I really don't suggest to you this pub.

Really quiet pub with a nice area upstairs serving good British tucker. Can really recommend the pulled park and cider pie which was delicious. The steak and kidney pie looked good and scampi very flavoursome.

This pub is the site where John Snow discovered that cholera was a waterborne disease. Thru scientific reasoning, he traced the epidemic to a leaking sewer pipe and a public water pump from which many locals drew their drinking water. There is a plaque outside the pub to commemorate this father of modern epidemiology. Some of the original cobblestone are still present in the street in front.
This place was hopping the two times I walked by, with young revelers pouring out on the street. It is well preserved and has a friendly atmosphere.

Nice vibe, good beer and located in the heart of Soho. Met a couple of friends in the handy upstairs area and had a really reasonably priced Ale.

It's a good one, but it used to be better. Sadly like most things, the cost of the Sam Smiths lagers and bitters as almost doubled since I first moved to London and many of the best drinks are disappeared. However it really is still a lot cheaper than many other pubs, and the John Snow has plenty of space. That said it is full to the brim most nights because of the value it offers, but persevere, you will get seated at some point.

I recommend the Fitzroy Tavern as a slightly more classy Samuel Smiths pub, and it's in a nicer area too.

How utterly glorious to walk into the John Snow Hotel on Broadwick street. The rush of history gave me goosebumps and not the cholera that had happened here in this street a couple of centuries previous or was it the cold beer that I inbibed in as I sat and talked history with the approachable and knowledgeable manager.
John Snow the anaethistist had drawn up a matrix and had identified all the deaths from an epidemic in the area centred around Broad St (now Broadwick) and specifically the pump which the locals used to pump water. This was the first time such a matrix was used to solve a (health) problem. It is on display upstairs.
He removed the handle of the pump about 50 metres from the pub down Broadwick St and the epidemic was halted. The pump still stands there today.
The manager told me the pub was haunted and many of his staff didn't stay there. He had been using the pump handle that he had kept under the bar to quell any unrest with drunks until recently when it was donated to a museum.
Haha Mr John Snow may have knocked people out with his chloroform anaesthetic but I wonder how many more were knocked out with the pump handle?
