Definitely recommend a visit

Nice staff. Felt pricey but well worth it. Plenty to see in the house, definitely listen to the video in the cellar. Garden map supplied followed suggested route so didn't miss anything. Map/route good idea. New owners doing work would be interesting to see what else they do. Good as is but potential for more of an attraction.

A Stunning House

This house has some of the nicest features and rooms I've seen in a historic home. It was great fun to explore, discover the secret doors, learn about its history and the stories of resident spooks. The gardens are also stunning and well worth a walk around.

Over priced for what was there . Promised more than it delivered

We went to see the gardens this week and were so disappointed. Very little in flower and so u inspiring. Staff were pleasant and setting is potentially lovely. No doubt things will be in colour in a few weeks, if the gardens get restocked!

Visit again from 30 years ago.

I can’t really remember what the house was like from 30 years ago but the present owner is really trying to restore it to its previous glory. Leslie, our guide, was very informative and let us wander around the rooms that have been restored and encouraged us to come back next year and see what has been done. We were virtually by ourselves as a coach party had recently left. Leslie was very knowledgeable and unlike National Trust allowed us to take photos. The gardens are OK although again a lot needs to be done. The cafe is very spacious but not much choice except for cake which was delicious.

Beautiful Tudor house & gardens . First time we’d visited . Really enjoyed the day .
Gardens & Cafe were nice.
would recommend any National Trust lovers ( it’s not NT ) to take a visit you won’t be disappointed.

. .. we were not disturbed by the renovations. In fact, it was great to see that the new owner (since 2019) seems keen on restoring this historic building. The host when we arrived was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The gardens were not looking their best but still interesting enough. Well-recommended.

A gem of a place. The good lady & I visited as part of a small coach party over the Easter weekend.
I have feeling that parts of house normally open were closed off. ( We did not see even mention of a cellular. )
The extensive gardens should look really good in the summer.
Athelhampton had not been on our itinerary. We ended up there because the original destination was unavailable. We hope to return. Hopefully for 4 or 5 hours.

Beautiful house and grounds + amazing food!

Visited on a sunny day in April. Lovely house and grounds to wander around. Dog friendly outside and in the restaurant. Amazing food and all dietary requirements catered for; menu clearly labelled. Plenty of choice for all!

Pleasant couple of hours

Well kept gardens but a bit early in the year to visit as not much in bloom
Nice food cafe and helpful staff
House undergoing massive renovations and will probably be much better to look around in a few years!

Dear non19082 Thanks for the review. I actually though considering the time of year, that there is a lot in bloom in the gardens! Camellia, Daffodils, Tulips, Hellebores, and Fritillaries all add a splash of colour, and the most magnificent Magnolia trees dotted throughout the gardens. More rooms of the house opening before the summer, when all our renovation work comes to an end. Don't wait a couple of years, comeback sooner! Best wishes Owen
