What a gem! This intimate museum is a unique example what true friendship is. The numerous very personally signed copies of books, notebooks and posters as well as graphics and clay work are very unique. And the small size of the museum is refreshing after visiting Prado:) there was even another exhibition in a house nearby showing analyses of Picasso’s early painting which made him famous

We stopped here for coffee on the way north from Madrid, and remembered there was a little Picasso museum... WOW! What a wonderful discovery!
Back in the 1950s and 60´s, Buitrago native son and barber Eugenio Arias was plying his trade in Paris among his fellow Spanish exiles, when he met artist Pablo Picasso. The two struck up a friendship that lasted decades, and left the artist well-groomed and Arias well endowed with some interesting original artwork. Eugene returned home once Democracy returned to Spain, and ceded this lovely collection of works to Buitrago de Lozoya.
There are not spectacular must-sees masterpieces, but the up-close, well-lit displays of ceramics, drawings, etc. give you a startling awareness of Picasso´s perfect mastery of simple images drawn in a single stroke of a pen or brush. It is breathtaking, and refreshing after all those overstuffed, crowded art museums in Madrid.

Eugenio Arias was a long time friend and the barber used by Picasso. Picasso signed everything and gave Eugenio many of his sketches, ceramics and other drawings.
Rather than sell these Eugenio gave them to the town Buitrago de Lozoya where he was born.
They have opened this museum in a tiny/ off the track village-town and it is a real gem. Free and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Particularly the security guard.
Places like this abound across Spain and make it worth the extra time in avoiding motorways.

A small and intimate museum dedicated to Picasso's works with books, ceramics, and French posters. An enthusiastic guard greeted us & provided lots of information on the surrounding areas.

What a great find; such a small and interesting little museum and all original Picasso works. We really enjoyed it and leaflets were in English. Closed around the lunch hours but opens at 4pm. Large groups need to phone in advance as it is only small.

The Picasso Museum is a small museum that has the Picasso collection of his barber, Eugenio Arias. There are several excellent art pieces in this small museum and my wife and a friend enjoyed our visit here and took many photos of the art objects. The museum was free.

Very special this small museum of Picasso's barber. After cutting the maestro's hair for 30 years, his collection of art was big enough for a small museum. Barber Ariel donated it to his village Buitrago and did not fall for the money of rich collectors who wanted to buy from him.

Perfect plan for a country afternoon!. After a nice menú and Picasso's personal art Museum (don't miss the 8minute video of his barber talking). Count on the possibility of canoeing in Lozoya's river and enjoy the great views of "La Muralla" (the Castle wall).

Great little museum, it's such an intimate place, with such personal Picasso art dedicated to his barber. It really is a must see if you're driving up or down the A1 (as is the town of Buitrago, it's full of interesting things to see). The Quijote and bull art is just great, I've taken several visitors here on the way to/from Madrid and they've loved it, and I love it every time I visit. Oh, and it's free to top it all off!

The exhibition has impacted me because of what it conveys, even though I am not a fan of the painter. Thanks to the people at the museum for clarifying doubts that have arisen.
