The dinorsaur area was closed for the winter and there was no panda’s no concessions in the park were open. This information should be advertised on the website

Always so much fun!

The zoo has so much to do. Play area for children. Lots of places to eat. Good walking and never boring for the kids.

I love this place

I love the Calgary Zoo, We are from Vancouver Island and we are members to the Calgary Zoo. We visit the Calgary Zoo about 3-4 times a year. There is always something neat going on and if there isn't its a zoo how do you not have an amazing time. This past visit we got to experience ZooLights for the first time, what a wonderful evening. It was a bit cold but you only needed about 2 hours wandering the zoo grounds. They had fire pits, skating, axe throwing &lots of photo ops. They have done a great job with and making it interesting for all ages.
We also decided to rent on of their snow globes. They offered different specials, we opted for the champagne and hot chocolate with a charcuterie board, chocolate covered strawberries and more. They even offered dairy/gluten free hot chocolate and gluten free crackers. Such a nice touch. There was so much food we could not believe it and the 6 of us (plus a toddler) barely finished it all. There was a heater so we could all unbundle. We had the best time ever! So many laughs and memories made. If we can make it to Calgary every Christmas we want to continue renting one.
If you are visiting to see the zoo animals I would recommend planning to spend most of the day here. There is lots to do and there are some cool play areas for kids. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable. There is a robotic dinosaur area that is pretty neat especially if you have kids that love dinosaurs!
Looking forwarded to going to the Penguin Walk on my return trip in a few weeks!

Great way to spend a day

An excellent place for everyone of all ages. Recommend going there. The food is good, several places to eat as well to picnic if you take your own.

Great to visit even in the winter!

Highly recommend visiting! Even though it was cold and snowy outside there was lots to see and do. No lines and no crowds made for front row animal viewing. Lots of opportunity to be inside as many of the animals are in the buildings. The main playground was cleared for the littles to play safely and the Kitamba Café had drinks and snacks.

Trip to Calgary zoo was good for a couple hours but I was disappointed I'm the number of things you could actually see. There was a lot of people 'stuff' and it felt like we took a long time to actually find any animal enclosures. The dinosoar area was closed, as was the majority of the Canadian animal section which when coupled with the bears hibernating (obviously not the zoo's fault) meant there wasn't many animals to actually see across the whole zoo.
However penguin section was great and we loved seeing the baby gorilla.
My 4 year old had a good time, but I'm not convinced it was value for money with so much shut.

Fantastic zoo!

Easily one of the nicest zoos in Canada, if not in the Americas. This institution should be considered hands down one of Calgary's top attractions.

The grounds are huge, you can easily spend a whole day checking out the various wings of the zoo. There are various biomes to explore, such as Canadian wilds, savanna, East Asia, etc. It is especially impressive that given Calgary's harsh winters, the Calgary zoo is able to upkeep such a large variety of species, including tropical and desert animals.

Some amenities on site include restaurants, coffee and ice cream booths, a gift shop, and play areas for children. It has a huge parking lot that gets very busy, but if you prefer not to drive there it is also easily accessible by LRT.

If you happen visit in December, the annual Zoolights festival is a magic event that shouldn't be missed!

Off season visit, but still worth it!

We visited off-season (last week of October) and hoped to see more animals than we saw, but we were still pleased with our visit.

Staff was very friendly and helpful!

I would definitely go back, in-season, to see al it has to offer!
