This is a small museum dedicated to the history of the corkscrew. It contains hundreds, possibly thousands of corkscrews throughout history. There are also quite a few novelty corkscrews. If you have a few minutes to spare, it is interesting, but it is not a must see while in the Barolo region.

We enjoyed this museum! I do think that the 4€ entry fee is a bit steep but it isn’t a reason not to go. There are several walls of different corkscrews - styles and types. It was amazing to look at them all and see how they have played a role in far more than opening a bottle of wine. I recommend going here after visiting WiMu .. it is a great accompaniment to the fun and insight that WiMu offers.

Located on a small square in the heart of the town of Barolo, is this small and manageable museum that focuses on corkscrews. The township and the region have focused on the production of wine for many centuries, going back to Roman times. Throughout history, wine producers have struggled with the challenges involved in the preservation of wine and the avoidance of oxidization. Different materials, created in different shapes and sealed with various sealants have been used for this purpose. Sealing a container creates the problem of opening it again, when the user wants access to the wine. The many forms of bottle openers developed over time are creatively displayed in this museum. It is a great stop either before or after visiting WiMu up in the castle. You could then have a bite next door at the barolofriends trattoria.

We were shocked at the prices charged at the borolo palace center... about 1.50 to 2.00 euro for a sip to taste... here at the shop of this museum it was 5 euro.... just to taste!
If u fall for either then u need to look at the fool in the mirror...
Recommend going to any local enoteca anywhere in piemont to avoid such flagrant abuse. Much better selection, service and friendly hosts

This small museum, located close to the Barolo Castle, offers a wonderful collection of instruments used over the centuries to uncork bottles of wine. he ingenuity of our ancestors is clearly in evidence. it is also clear that we are much better off today, with the variety of easy-to-use and inexpensive instruments for the consumer. The Museum is open between 10:am and 6:00 pm (with one hour closed for lunch), but it is closed on Thursdays.
