Fabulous bookshop with great section for kids. Loads of second hand books too. Check out the cards by Irish artists for sale also. Shelly was really helpful and friendly

Will certainly call anytime I’m nearby, the coffee is fabulous also, never mind the amazing selection of books on the shelves!

I really liked this place. They have a good selection of new and second hand books. We got a bunch of books between us. The coffee there is nice too. It’s a community bookshop so all profits are retained to keep the place going. They seem to have an active series of events going on. Shops like this are the heart of the community.

Called here on way back from nearby beautiful beach Carrowmore. Helpful knowledgeable lady offers assistance but lets one browse.
Good Irish selection and nice cards.
Nice relaxed atmosphere as befits a good bookshop.

What a wonderful and charming place. We stopped in on St. Patrick’s day, just before the town parade. Friendly people, eclectic selection, wanted to stay and peruse forever. Spent some $$$ because I couldn’t bear to leave such literary treasures behind. Lovely people who care about the local scene, and about enhancing it. Love this shop. Will pop in again on our next visit.

I asked for recommendations in an online book club for a good bookshop in Mayo to visit and Books@one kept being recommended so I made the 1.25 hour drive out to check it out.

It is a truly wonderful place and I spent about and hour and a quarter there browsing, drinking coffee and chatting to the very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful Ann.

The inside of the shop is laid out in a very relaxed manner and not cluttered or stuffed. There is light coming in from the front and back.
I learned of the community project aspect of the shop and the future plans for expansion.

Ann was able to source some books I was looking for and also make a good recommendation to me for a new read for myself.

The shop also sells hand bound notebook with quality paper.

If this shop wasn't at the other end of the country I'd be a regular!

I left much happier than I went in and with a bag of books.

If you're in or near Louisburgh this shop is a must!

Dropped into Books@one this weekend after a long break - and for the first time, I left without buying anything.

The deterioration in this bookshop is so sad. A year ago I was recommending it to anyone coming to the village; it was a brilliant new community asset, a lovely place to spend time - enjoying a coffee and a chat - the venue for community activity and a shop jammed with an exciting collection of books. In fact it was one of the loveliest bookshops I have been to anywhere in the world (and I have been to hundreds). It was always busy - and impossible to leave without a pile of purchases.

Fast forward to my latest, and maybe last, visit. No welcome. No other customers. A meagre collection of new books swamped by charity shop standard used books. The shop still looks good - it has kept some of the arty signage and fine shelving it opened with - but its soul has gone, and there is no real reason to go in now.

TBH, it is not hard to work out what has happened here. The gem that was Books@one reflected the imagination and drive of its founder manager. He was pushed out a year ago, and what is left is slowly dying.

Books@one gave Lousiburgh a real lift, and some national publicity. Its decline is a real blow.

Visited on way back from Westport, had read about it in the Irish Times. There's been some controversy about the shop because its set up by one of the Ryan Air owners and had nothing to do with the local community and may take business from local cafes. The manager was also fired in mysterious circumstances. None of this is visible when you go in and it does have a variety of books on sale.

Went into this book shop as it had been a favourite place to visit when in Louisburgh. It had been so much more than a book shop but a lovely place to visit and experience especially because of the Manager who brought a great sense of community to the shop. However this manager is now gone and so has the special something that used to be in this shop.

Well - not a cafe but they do serve hot drinks - no snacks and stuff. Its a bookshop for sure. New and used books. Was met by friendly man - a volunteer. Seems they are mostly staffed by local volunteers. Nice childrens room at the back with inexpensive/free childrens books. Reading the literature its a regeneration project run by a Trust. Well worth a look around.
