Visited here to see some surfers on the water doing their thing. We walked here for free while parked at the distillery. Worth the visit as the views were great!

The appetizer (shrimp with garlic and calamari) were very good. We ordered the meat - espeto de carne - that was one of the most recommended. It arrived cold as if it was coming from the refrigerator. Pity!

Nice little black sand beach with good toilet facilities nearby. We loved watching the busy surf school taking place when we visited - but I’m guessing that means it’s not a place for sunbathing or bringing small children!

A small stony beach you can come across when travelling through the east of Madeira. A couple of locals were there when we visited, the surf school was closed and frankly, I wouldn't say this was worth the stop. If you want to take a swim alone, than this is the place.
You can park you car on a free parking lot in front of the snack bar next to the beach, but it was hard to find an empty parking space as locals are using it.

Tuesday 22nd June and we visited this small beach which is just down the coast from Porto da Cruz.
While walking down the steps to the beach, keep an eye open for the face carving along the beach wall beside the small red and white striped lighthouse/beacon.
This black stoney beach is situated in a small bay nestled between a cliff at one end and a rocky outcrop at the other.
When we visited there was nothing or no-one on the beach
The place was virtually deserted with the Madeira Surf School closed due to COVID restrictions. A few other people were walking about the village.
Toilets and changing rooms were available in the square near the beach, no doubt to facilitate the Surf School.
Did like the stone sculpture on the promenade area by the beach.
There is a rum making factory nearby, look out for the tall red brick chimney and that's where it is
