There are walks at the bottom, and walks at the top (especially to see the dinosaur tracks), and you can also walk all the way up or down, or half way up or down! They cover all levels, so I am sure you will find something that fits your requirements. Any tourist bureau in the area, I am sure, could help you with walking maps, as well as the ticket seller at the bottom of the train. You might want to do some research the daybefore you ascend. I have not done the walks, but whilst on the vertical train, steam train, and cog, we witnessed many walkers. The hike at the top to the dinosaur tracks is not super difficult, and takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there. I am 73 and I intend to do that walk later this year.

Ci vado tutti gli anni da circa 25 anni e credo che sia uno dei posti più suggestivi che abbia mai visto. La vista sulla catena alpina è unica !

Bonjour, il vous faut prendre le Mont-Blanc Express à Martigny (voie 40) jusqu'à Finhaut pour prendre le bus qui vous amène à Emososn. Ou jusqu'au Châtelard Village pour prendre les installations de VerticAlp Emosson (funiculaire, train panoramique et minifunic).

Hi. We took this trip last year. I think it is about an hour up and another hour back. But it does depend on the number of people, as the top ascent carriage is much smaller than the other trains. And it also depends on the connections. You might have to wait 5 or 10 minutes, again depending on the number of tourists. But i thoroughly recommend the trip. We had a great time, and spent 1 1/2 hours at the top... walking around and then a nice cup of hot chocolate at the restaurant.

Hi. We did the train thing last August. I can't remember the cost, but It wasn't exactly cheap. I do remember we felt the whole trip was worth the cost because we had so much fun. You can drive up there and there are lots of walks and spectacular views once on top. You can even walk to dinosaur tracks higher up... that is our next trip. If you are a keen hiker, you can walk to the top plaza where there is a restaurant. Or take the train up but plan to walk down! Not for the faint-hearted. Hope this helps.

Hi. Just read your question. Trains run from May to October. Otherwise, it is under snow. But it is possible to drive up there, or for those intrepid Alpine hikers.... you can walk.
