I found this an interesting place. Amazing its still remains and as such I consider this a must see. Free shuttle bus from the mall and it also stops at the castle. We walked from the Castle to here, 10 min walk mainly flat and good surfaces. We tayd about an hour here.

The Nakamura House is surrounded by a lush landscape and koi pond, not far from Nakagusuku Castle. Our family spent about 40 minutes walking through the house and garden. They have some great displays of items used in or around the home. My child thought the livestock area was interesting - mostly because it was small and so close to the house! We talked about what it might be like to have pigs and horses right outside the kitchen windows.

They do also have QR codes in parts of the house that will tell you more about what you're looking at but unfortunately I couldn't get my phone to cooperate, so I missed out on that.

After you walk through, in the adjacent building (where you pay the entry fee) you'll find a gift shop. The employee there will also offer you tea and some brown sugar treats. You can also purchase pellets to feed the koi, which we did.

Definitely worth a short stop to see this preserved home, particularly impressive considering how much was destroyed during WWII's Battle of Okinawa.

Went to Nakagusuku Castle then headed back up the road 500m to see this attraction. We were not disappointed.

It's a lovely little house with outbuildings and a garden with a wide variety of plants and trees. Not a lot of displays but the house is furnished to give you a sense of how the rooms were used.

After paying for admission, the house is open to explore with no barriers or display cases. While we were able to let our toddler roam a bit on the tatami floors, we had to keep a constant eye.

A small traditional Japanese house, it would take you about 45 Mins to finish the tour there including reading the signs. It was not bad even tho it’s small. With the entrance ticket, u can get a cup of tea and a small plate of jelly dessert made from local cane sugar. It was actually very nice! The lady there even showed me the recipe how to make it as I really love it, I did get a pack of sugar when I left.

The parking is a little bit of a hassle, but I parked just past the location to the left where there was a big open parking lot and walked up. You pay for entry at a little omiyage-type shop (huge pond with koi right outside, really cute!) and then are free to wander about the whole establishment as you like. There is an English pamphlet available. You are welcome to walk through the whole house (with your shoes off!) but you should put your shoes on for the kitchen, which is on the floor level. I highly recommend reading the historical information provided before you start touring, which gives you a great sense of the meaning behind much of what is there. Don't forget to walk around the back of the building on the path through the garden--it's a magical experience to see everything from high above the back. Truly a wonderful experience if you love history and traditional architecture.

If you want a glimpse of traditional Okinawa homes then this is a must see. Small place but if you take your time and see all the details you can make a trip out of it. At the end of see the house I went into the gift shop where I was greeted with tea, brown sugar cubes and brown sugar jelly. So delicious!

Very small historical home and well worth visiting. Remember to remove your shoes once you enter the home. The signs requesting this are very small. The staff is great and we enjoyed the free tea and brown sugar candy after our walkthrough.

No much to see, only an old house of a rich farmer, in very good shape. The best, I guess, was getting free tea and brown sugar jelly on the gift shop, such nice people!

A 500 year old house in excellent shape that does a good job of showing how life was lived. Good English support with a very nice gift shop and friendly staff.

Fish pond for kids to feed the fish and turtle.

Quite expansive and everything is open to the public.

It's amazing that anything survived the bombing of Okinawa so this little gem is even more special for having stood for so long. It is set in a lovely garden, with trees around to help protect from typhoons, and various flowers. The insides have been fitted out to mirror the period and give a nice feel of a traditional home. The outer animal buildings and water-well complete the picture.
