After a quick ferry ride we got to walk among these beautiful buildings with many photo opportunities.
If you are willing to leave the main road and explore the twisting & narrow side streets , you will see many interesting things most people miss here.
During the off-season there are not many places to eat that are open so plan accordingly. We had a good meal at the Bistro near the harbor, though not all the menu items were available due to seasonal variations.
Overall an enjoyable & relaxing stroll through some interesting areas.

We caught the ferry across on a Sunday (free at weekends). A pleasant village to visit with multicoloured houses. A nice stroll. We also had lunch in one of the river front restaurants. Very popular on a Sunday.

We enjoyed our stroll through this surprising place, with its many interesting murals. Probably quite busy when the weather is warmer.

This is a very beautiful neighborhood. There are many colourful houses and building - perfect for your social media photos and memories. There are few restaurant and bars there as well where you can enjoy glass of wine or a meal. This is a worth visit and a short boat trip from city centre.

Five minutes on the Navidad, which departs every 20 minutes, and the €1.70€ ticket can be used for trams also within an hour of validating it . So basically you can get a tram ticket (line 1 ) from the city ,hop off at the Navibus station and take the boat on one ticket .Cute little streets ,boho arty feel and some nice little bars to pop into for a Calvado or coffee ,to warm up if it’s blustery outside

Trentemoult feels like a little French riverside village with the added advantage of being just a quick ferry hop from Nantes City centre.
The riverside part of the village is by far the most touristy and offers a range of typical restaurants and bars at premium prices. With that said on the day of our visit it was busy but not in an uncomfortable way and it was still enjoyable to walk along the 'promenade' and enjoy a glass of wine. I wouldn't of chosen the venues here for food or drink if I was in the city and had other choices, but you pay a price to get a spot along the river for lunch.
With that said I would advise visitors to explore the narrow alleys and lanes going back from the river as there's a few little craft shops and quieter bars away from the main street. Some of the streets are also very colourful and worth an explore in peace.
Trentemoult is best accessed by ferry. However, a bike ride along the road will take you to the Island and allow for a more full day out.

Trentemoult is so close to the City centre, but far enough to feel that you have travelled away from the City.
It is accessible by car, or by Ferry called NaviBus. The village with colourful houses is situated on the edge of the Loire river. There are some restaurant and the relaxed atmosphere is perfect to walk around the area or seat and contemplate the traffic on the river with a glass a wine (not much traffic).

Just completed 48 hours in Nantes (my first visit to France). Went here yesterday in 27 degrees of heat. Took the Navibus which is just near the Naval museum (i. e the battleship). Lovely old village which is what i had in my mind as being France. Not much other than 3 or four restaurants by the river front. Lovely spot. Discovered that most of the restaurants appeared to be booked for lunch, and they don't want you popping in for a beer (as we discovered after we had sat down and received the beer). We only stayed for an hour but worth the 1 70 euros for the quick walk and the river views (free with the Nantes card)

I knew it was a tourist trap but it never occurred to me that we would not be able to get anything for lunch outside the traditional 12-2 lunch hour for restaurants. We assumed that a place that literally has nothing to offer but river side eateries and painted houses would be catering to tourists and not rigid in dining hours. Surely one establishment would offer continuous service or there would be a crepe stand or hot dog bar. Nope.
We arrived at quarter to 3 having taken a 1:30 elephant ride at the Machines des Isles and immediately headed for a restaurant -- closed, complete, finished until we finally managed a hard sausage and bread at a bar. As we gnawed on this hard greasy hunk several other couples were given menus and then told that no -- pretty much nothing on the menu was actually available because the kitchen was closed. They could have dessert and coffee. (so if you want to come for afternoon tea, there is hope for you.)
Besides the restaurants there is pretty much nothing -- not even tourist oriented shops. It is a dumpy little town in which the city fathers decided that people ought to paint their homes bright colors presumably to attract tourists.. That they did. With the bright painting it is mildly picturesque and worth a 20 minute photo stroll. And I am sure some of the restaurants by the water would be pleasant for those who show up for traditional dining hours.
Don't bother if you can't get there during those dining hours hours. Not worth doing out of your way for unless you have done everything else in Nantes. The boat across the river runs every twenty minutes or so and runs on the same tickets as the tram -- the hourly ticket or the day pass.

From the city centre of Nantes, Trentemoult can be accessed from Gare Maritime (a black box building located near the tram station of the same name) via the Navibus which comes free when you have the Nantes Pass-- just show it to the crew before boarding (it's 25 Euros for 24 hours and 35 for 48 hours). The Navibus leaves to Trentemoult every 20, 40, and 00 of the hour every weekday. It's a 10-minute cruise from Gare Maritime to the fishing village. I enjoyed the cruise very much, as the Loire River was calm even though it was drizzling a bit.
Trentemoult has a lot of riverside cafes and restaurants. At first, I was disappointed because I thought the riverside shops and restaurants were all there was to see there, but when I started to go through the little alleyways, that's when I saw all the colorful, rustic, old-architecture houses that made them look like they were frozen in time. There were lots of flora, and some of the houses there were quirky and funny.
I enjoyed my two hours strolling around in Trentemoult because it made me feel more relaxed and unrushed. There was no hustle and bustle-- just peace and silence with nary another soul in sight for stretches of time. It was just me, peacefully taking a casual stroll with my umbrella and camera in hand. Highly-recommended!

Hola,

Bonne visite
BIEN CORDIALEMENT
Catherine David-Barham
