The Urbani works are the dominant employer in town. This museum is dedicated to the family who made tartufo (truffle) production and processing so important.

A nice small shop and museum but really nothing outstanding for this fantastic area of Italy. Anywhere else we might have been more impressed.

Museum of the family story, with a little of truffles. A shop in addition.

The Urbani family has been successfull with truffles for a long time. Here you get some of the family saga, and too little about truffles. The shop has interesting articles with truffles, please try some of their products. If you want ot know something about truffles and tasting, you go to the main site of the company 1 km away. They have modern localities, and you may try a choice of interesting truffles varieties. A representative told us a lot about truffles in very good english.

Boring - sorry it is!

We grew to love truffles during our time in Umbria & so were pretty excited when we realized we were staying in a town with a truffle museum. Our excitement quickly waned though as we walked around. Dedicated more to publicizing the family responsible for truffle harvesting in the area, it's a tedious walk around family photos. Sorry, but it is. It is also a place to buy, but not sample, truffle products, if that interests you.

The museum shows the history of the urbani family. Many antiques documents, objects, manufactured utensils and many more are shown in three modern decorated rooms. There is an extra room for meetings, Also there is an inside shop where you can find all kind of tartufo and products of it. The prices are reasonable.

the visit to the museum is free. It is a nice little museum, giving lots of visual explanation on truffles, the history, the evolution, the importance in this region. After the visit you can buy truffle products in the shop. also fresh truffles and the price is really good! Try the chocolate with truffles: they are free :-)

Unexpected local museum

Truffles are big business in the area. A lot of Umbrian dishes involve truffles. This company is one of the main dealers in truffles. The museum provides a nice feel and information in relation to truffles and it's place in the local economy. Worth a visit.
