I am a huge fan of spas and have been hooked since a trip to Baden Baden in my twenties. This spa has a good variety of thermal spas, quiet spots to have a relax and outdoor heated pools. What this spa does in spades however is amaze you with its mesmerising views of the surrounding mountains. Found at the end of a long road at the very end of the valley in the Panticosa region. The Spanish have been taking the waters here since 1887.

The spa itself is ambitious - it’s a bit like one of the futuristic James Bond lairs in part- it does big space well with high ceilings, modernist concrete blocks and fantastic translucent walls of brown and white stone.

The best bits for me were the incredibly tranquil white bottomed outdoor circular pool which was really brutal (the pictures on their website do not do this justice) the hammam room and the solarium for the wall of stone and the views.

It had lots of interesting touches like an igloo room, amazing glass curved showers, and some great tile work in the women’s changing room.

Lots of other reviewers have complained about the poor state of repairs. It definitely DOES need some work. However for the price €36 entry per person for 90 mins it is amazing value for money-and to be honest for the views alone it would be worth it.

The Termas have a number of unique features including hot and cold pools, a sauna and steam room, ice room and a Hamman which is a large round tile 'bed' that you lie on that is heated by the hot springs. The outdoor pool has a great view of the mountains. You get a 10 euro discount if staying at the hotel continental which is connected. The facility was in good shape (I noted some complaints regarding this in the 2014 review) and the drive up is spectacularly picturesque and we enjoyed it (in contrast to other recent reviewers). Overall, we enjoyed it a lot. My only complaint was that the hot pool was not as hot as I expected (in contrast to other hot springs we have been to like Calistoga, California and Idaho Springs, Colorado.

Appreciated Elaine U! Thank you've spent a few minutes on TripAdvisor describe their experience in the Balneario Termas de Tiberio, these details help us identify possible areas for improvement. We are delighted to know that your experience has been the most exceptional, relaxing and we are glad to read that you have enjoyed all the facilities, as all the spaces of the Spa are designed for relaxation and healing water use. We regret to know that the water in the thermal pools was not hot enough, I would like to tell you that the mineral-medicinal waters of the Spa spring from the Tiberio spring at 50ºC and from the four sources each emerges at a different temperature from the spring Of San Agustín or Source of the Kidney where the temperature of emergency is of 26º, Source of the Beauty or of the Stomach the approximate temperature is of 28º, spring of the Lagoon its temperature of emergency is of 22º and finally fountain of Tiberio is the unique Source of deep origin. Emerges at 50 ° C, it is possible that the difference in temperature will not find them hot enough for your taste. We look forward to welcoming you back to our Resort in the future. Sincerely, Director of Customer Relations Balneario de Panticosa.

We went to the Balneario the second time this year and were a bit disappointed by it. The concept is good but some of the interesting sections were closed for some reason. The building was not well kept and a lot of maintenance work needs to be done. I hope the management works on it a bit more and makes some improvements as it is a really attractive concept for tourists. The exterior pool is brilliant as it gives a fantastic feeling of being in one's swimming costume surrounded by the snow covered Pyrenees.

Following our general rule of "where there are mountains, there are thermal springs," our party of 8 travelers (two families with four teenage children between us) made a last minute decision to stop here on our drive from Pamplona to Ainsa last week. I'm kind of glad that we didn't do our usual Tripadvisor due diligence before we did so, as the experience, for us, was surprisingly good.

Although it is not altogether clear from information we could find on the internet, the drive is, as some reviews note, a little extreme. For those who are like me - a mid-westerner at heart who thinks a 300 foot climb is a bit steep - this may be a bit challenging. Located about 15 km from the French border, our guess is the complex sits at about 3,000 feet - and is almost completely surrounded by 6,000 foot peaks, some of which still had bits of snow at the top even in late August. There are paths that you can walk (we took a short 15 minute walk to a waterfall but weren't able to explore further due to time constraints), a few ok-ish restaurants for lunch, a hotel, and the spa.

We thought we'd be going for the hours allowing children, but learned at the front desk that our teenagers (ages 12-15) were considered adults - a slight miscommunication due to my own lack of very good language skills when checking with them over the phone earlier that day. No worries, though, as we took a late lunch and then went to the spa after the "family hours" ended, meaning that we had a little more time than we thought to do the baths. Overall, we thought each of the staff that we encountered were very helpful and kind, and did not have any of the bad reactions to front desk help that some have noted.

Yes, the facilities are showing signs of wear and tear, something all of us noted. Yes, there was one pool that was closed for repairs while we were there (we believe the hot one - bummer, but late summer is not exactly high season, as far as I can tell). And yes, the cost was 35 euros per person. But overall, we thought the facilities were clean, the baths and the activities engaging, and overall it was very relaxing. The outdoor pool, in particular, was beautiful, and our young adult companions had a fun time switching between the sauna and the "igloo." In fact, having just done a 25 km walk on the Camino del Santiago the day before, it was just what the doctor ordered for our group.

The drive alone is spectacular, as far as I'm concerned - in our case, making the descent as the sun was hitting its rosiest shades of dusk against the sides of the steep cliffs. Had we known about the walks available to us, we probably would have made some more time in this area to do a bit of hiking, too. As Americans, if you are looking for something a little off the beaten path and are up for a tiny bit of an adventure, this may be worth your while.

We went there on Monday and it was pretty full. Children supposed to be forbidden at 7 pm but there weren't too many, making noise and disturbing. Bathrobe was only for Hotel guests, which is ok, although price was 5 euros for renting one. Entrance was 36 euros...so a bathrobe was an assumption. Out of the 15 different services, 2 were closed. Installations and environment are amazing, although road access is a bit of dangerous.
