One week in the wild, relax and taste natural food! If you have a week for to dedicate to your wellness...the best choice is Umbria!
My experience in Cesi,San Gemini and Carsulae was wonderful!
San Gemini is a little medieval village, clean, original and friendly.
You can walk in the medieval center and you hear the sound of your steps... You taste the fragrance of the jasmine of the little gardens hidden among beautiful churches: San Francesco, San Nicolò, the Dome.
San Nicolò is a very jewel of Romanic architecture of the XI century, surrounded by a beautiful park.
The best period for to visit this region is sure in Summer, but for me was in the end of September.
Autumn colors of the trees around the village, incredible colors of the mountains that crowning the landscape.
And in the last week of september there is also the 'Giostra dell'Arme', a medival historic reenactment, with horses and riders in original costumes compete in a breathtaking race. A fascinating historical parade that takes us back through the centuries!

The village of Baschi is perched on top of a hill like so many of the ancient towns and villages in Umbria. Everywhere you look you can see towns standing out against the skyline on the top of escarpments surrounded by rolling fields and clear flowing rivers. Quite breathtakingly beautiful scenery although driving around it is a trifle nauseating as it's like being on a switchback! Our rental car had very soft suspension so we all felt a little seasick using the main road between Baschi/Orvieto and Perugia (plus all places in between). Fab views all along the way though. The church in Baschi is incredibly peaceful with a majestic old organ up on the balcony and a glorious wooden lined ceiling. As you walk through the narrowing lanes towards the church you can see how the people of this region live - their doors are wide open, the older ladies are sat in comfortable chairs by the back stoop enjoying the sun while birds in cages hang above their heads enjoying the clean fresh air. The back faces of their houses hang over a sheer drop which might take some getting used to if you are not to keen on heights. Well worth a visit to see how remarkably unchanged life in rural Italy really is.
