TripAdvisor has some ideas for a beer lover’s vacation
Some folks enjoy a day at the beach when on vacation. Others opt for Disney World or a camping trip to a national park. And for those who like ales, lagers, and stouts, TripAdvisor has thoughtfully drawn up a list of destinations that might help a holiday traveler to plot out a brew-meister’s safari.
The Newton-based travel review website has just issued a list of America’s top brewery tours that was devised with input from the company’s TripAdvisor Popularity Index. The index takes into account the reviews of consumers who use the TripAdvisor website.
“TripAdvisor travelers have toured, tasted, and spoken — these outstanding brewery tours also happen to be free and are sure to serve up hopping good experiences,” Brooke Ferencsik, TripAdvisor director of communications, said in a statement.
The Samuel Adams Brewery in Boston makes the cut.
(For good or ill, the place that makes Ozymandias beer for the Cambridge Brewing Co. does not. This offering features such a hefty throw-weight that it might make the pentameter of poet P.B. Shelley jump and shout. And some buffs believe it is a beer best consumed in a tumbler.)
Other hot spots on the TripAdvisor Top 10 Brewery Tours list include the Allagash Brewery in Portland, Maine. And should beer-loving vacationers find themselves in Chippewa Falls, they might want to check out the Wisconsin brewery operated by Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co.
As for devotees of the Budweiser hydration program, a tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery tour in St. Louis could amount to a near religious experience.
