The artwork is beautiful and is accompanied by well written, factual, and insightful descriptions and historical context summaries.
I believe this is a one of a kind collection, items gathered by one person and thankfully preserved.
Volunteer staff are eager to answer questions and go in depth when called upon.
The rooms settings and decor match the artwork.
The whole experience is calming and one feels transported in time and space.

I’d never heard of or seen lithophanes before so I walked in with no expectations at all. The docent explained what the exhibit was and how they were made very clearly and then we were free to walk around and look at everything ourselves. They were beautiful and unusual. A couple of small hands on things, but nothing really for young kids to do, so it would probably bore them.

Unfortunately, the museum will no longer be part of toledo botanical garden and is looking for a new home. Exhibit is excellent, open from 12 to 4 on Sat and Sunday until Oct 28, 2019

My husband has wanted to visit this museum for years, and we weren't disappointed. It's only open on the weekends from May to October(?) and only in the afternoons.
Staff were friendly & knowledgeable. There was so much to see & enjoy, very worthwhile. Free, but of course we made a donation and several purchases.

If you are like me, you've never heard of Lithophanes but I learned a great deal with this stop. Lithophanes are three-dimensional translucent porcelain plaques, which when backlit reveal detailed images. I'm not an expert in art but these pieces fascinated me with their extreme detail and how they were processed. If you are looking for something different to do while visiting or just passing through Toledo, be sure and stop here. The museum is located on the grounds of the Toledo Botanical Garden, which in itself is beautiful to walk around.

Just happened upon this gem. It’s small but so beautiful! The docent was very knowledgeable. I truly could have spent more time here, but we were under a time constraint.

This place was amazing. Quite a hidden gem! Arrive at 1P.M. and enjoy other building around the botanical gardens. They close at 4. This is a must see for sure. Also be sure to sign up for various camps during the summer at the Toledo Botanical Gardens.
We went here is our family of four. 10, 20, 50 and 54 years. All ages love it. It's very small but the story and art work are huge!!!!
When you arrive a volunteer will greet you and tell you the story of Mr. Blair. She was very nice! After the short information provided by our tour guide we were allowed to peruse at our leisure.
We could not help but to leave a donation. It was so worth it!

While attending the Crosby Arts Festival at what was the Toledo Botanical Gardens (now part of Toledo Metroparks), we stumbled into this gem of a museum.
