The Jewish Quarter is one section of Jerusalem's Old City. Religious Jews can be seen shopping and strolling around. The faithful worship at the Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall). Religious Jews write prayers, which are placed in crevices of the ancient temple. The Temple Wall is all that remains of the Second Temple. Religious Jews believe their prayers will go directly to God. Non-Jews can worship at the Temple Wall, but it is polite to wear a head covering.

PROS
* Famous and historic- most of the stuff is from the Second Temple but there is a wall from First Temple times
* Outstanding ancient architectural and archaeological wonders
* See remnants of the glory of Jerusalem and actual streets, stores and artifacts from the time of Jesus
* Experience and observe close-up the day-to-day life of an intense ultra-orthodox Jewish lifestyle
* Numerous simple kosher food places, all with the "elegant" supervision
CONS
* Crowded with residents, Israelis and tourists
* Confusing combinations of narrow warrens of walkways, alleys, and dead ends.
"IVISITED THIS PLACE"...
... on my return from commemoration events of the destruction of that Holy Jewish Temple. The place was lively and crowded- much American English was heard.
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" again?
Sure- I lived here in the Jewish Quarter 40+ years ago and have returned countless numerous times and I will continue to do so. as a matter of fact, it's time again to do another round of all the various fantastic historical sites and museums
ADVICES
Of course go, but consider seriously doing this with a guide. remember that people do live here.

While in Jerusalem you should walk around all the quarters, I probably enjoyed the Jewish Quarters the most.
Seemed cleaner and not so hectic as some of the others, would recommend a guide or be very clear in what you want to see
And do, as you can miss a lot of significant religious sites with all the small street alleys ways etc.
One of the top things to do in Jerusalem.

We went to the Jewish Quarter on a Friday afternoon, after the City of David Tour, which lasted for three hours and we needed a little break. We started with the Western Wall of course, my husband said the prayer in the men’s section, while I waited for him in the women’s section but didn’t join the believers as I am not one of them. Everyone was very polite and didn’t mind my presence in this sacred place.
It was delightful to browse the old streets of the Jewish Quarter in the crowds of Orthodox men, women and charming kids, who were very busy with their Shabbat preparations. We also took a look at the restored Hurva Synagogue and discovered the traces of the 1948 War of Independence: the battles had been happening right in the center of the Old City… the Rothschild House and the memorial to 48 City Defenders who perished in the fierce battle for Jerusalem tell you the story of those glorious and tragic days.

We were forever getting out of the way of others who would walk straight into you as if where not there. Advice know exactly where you are going, wear shoes that protect your feet if you are trappled on or run over by a little cart. Dress respectfully and be quite at others holy sites.

Wish that I felt differently, but after seeing how close conflicting areas are to one another I do not think that peace will ever happen.

This area was packed with people and sites. Don't miss seeing Herod's road in the middle of the "mall" section. BBQ offered decent lunch options and we all migrated there on our own. It was delicious.

As said in the title, the Jewish Quarter is my favorite spot in the old city. After frequenting many times I have gotten to know some of the shop owners and always return to visit them. I love the shops and of course it is an access point to the western wall.

You should make time to walk through each of the four quarters in the old city. Each quarter does have its own unique character.

I love visiting the art galleries with Biblical Art in Cardo & above ground, Moriah & others, which are just exceptional! I love going to the Western Wall & the Holy Café! And I love the Biblical Jewellrey at various shops around Jaffa Gate! But my all-time favourite is the City of David, Hezekiah's Tunnel & the Pool of Siloam!

Não acredito que tenha, mas tem que fazer uma busca. No entanto existem opções muito boas em localizações excelentes. Procure saber do Windows of Jerusalem que é muito bem localizado. Ficamos lá.

Would there be a shabbat dinner available to the public in the Jewish Quarters on Friday March 10, 2017? Most Jewish restaurants seem to be closed? Are there any private homes that will take in guests for the Shabbat dinner?
Thank you,
Cheryl

I'm not sure, very little is open on Shabbat, when I was in Israel, I stayed with a family, I will go back for Pesach and spend it with them. You might go before the 10th to the Jewish Quarter and speak with people and maybe somebody will take you in to eat. Israelis are extremely friendly and open. Wish I could give you a definite yes, but I cannot! Sorry
