The place of final rest of famous and ordinary Lithuanians, Poles, Belarusians. Anyone interested in history of these three nations, will find famous people's graves here. For anyone not so interested, here is a tip: find the book-smugglers' section in the northern part and find out who the book-smugglers (or book-carriers) were.
Anyway, the cemetery is beautiful itself; when I visited in April, it was all in bloom, full of wildflowers.

I wasn’t as impressed with this cemetery as some of the other reviewers have been. To me, it looked in state of considerable disrepair. There were no information signs anywhere that I could see. However, the primary purpose of a cemetery really isn’t as a ‘tourist attraction’, and any information signs would not likely be in English anyway. Undoubtedly more appreciated by locals than by foreigners.

Lithuanian cemeterys (not that I was making visits on purpose) are the most beautifull I have ever seen. In the middle of the woods or at least in the wooded areas, simple, overgrown with moss.
Rasu kapines, being a city cemetery manages to keep that green line going on.
I recommend a visit.

This cemetary looks like a set of a gothic horror movie. Go there around halloween to get seriously spooked.
The only problem with this cemetary is that it is very close to a very busy road so there's always (even late at night) a load car noise all around. My fix for this is earphones with horror movie soundtrack.

One of the most beautiful cemeteries I have ever seen in a nice foresty area. This place is absolutely stunning it breathes history in every corner. It is build on hills and thanks to many trees there is a lot of shade. You constantly walk up and down and not all paths are paved, but rather beaten tracks. The grave stones have all very different characters. There is a dedicated area for Polish soliders who have fought side by side with the Lithuanian people in the early 20th century.A place where history is written about Lithuanian and Polish great men and women. The place can be reached by bus and is a good walk from the city center. Must see in Vilnius if you like walks with a view.

Rasu cemetery is quite old and many monuments are in the state near to ruins. The municipality of Vilnius should find the funds to restore the historical Cemetery.

Rasos is the oldest cemetery in Vilnius, established in the end of the 18th century. It is also a most important necropolis of Lithuania where many prominent Lithuanian and Polish persons are buried, mostly artists, writers, scientists, though there are graves of the fathers of independence of Lithuania and Poland, though of the latter only heart is buried in Rasos, his main grave is in Cracow. Apart from the history, there are more interesting points: varied architecture of chapels and family burial places, extreme variety of gravestones and some quite interesting sculptures. Rasos is quite away from the city centre, so it is better to use public transport or to go by car. As of now (July 2018) extensive renovations are going on, so some parts of the cemetery are difficult to access.

When the snow is fallen, and the temperatures are cold, Rasos cemetery is one of the most picturesque places in all of Vilnius. It's old, it's crowded, and it's private. You are very likely to see no one else there or just few people. In summer it is much more popular with tourists.

I like to walk in cemeteries because it helps to understand the local culture. The cemetery was quite old, hilly, fence around it. You just cannot go out when you want. It is quite a job to find the gates.
